Cycling around Lake Annecy

reprise du velo nos 6 conseils pour se preparer pour les grands cols
If you want to explore Albertville and its surroundings we advice you visit to the medieval town of Conflans also. It is a very pleasant ride, the cycle path goes all the way to Albertville.
Once you arrive, climb to the upper part of the city on the left hand side of the river to enjoy a well-deserved refreshment on one of the terraces in the center of the pretty town of Conflans and admire the beautiful views.

Discover the greenway

During your vacation, you can enjoy the greenway around Lake Annecy, one of the oldest greenways in France. The cycle path was built on a former railway line.

The cycle path around the lake is 40 km long. From the Lac Bleu campsite, cross the road at the supermarket and then go behind the tennis court to join the cycle path.

We recommend heading towards Annecy from the Doussard and Lathuile side and returning via the Talloires and Menthon Saint Bernard side.
This way, you can cycle up to Talloires in reverse, making it much easier to go downhill. Cycling around the lake is also very doable for children if they are used to cycling. Just take your time, stop regularly to hydrate, and enjoy the view!

You can bring your own bikes or rent them at the campsite reception or from our partner K2, located a few hundred meters from the campsite. City bikes, mountain bikes, and racing bikes offer something for everyone.

Before setting out on your ride, remember to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a snack, and a water bottle. If you want to stop along the way and enjoy the small beaches around the lake, don't forget your swimsuit and a towel.

If the ride is too strenuous for your little ones, you can reach the campsite from Annecy by boat (only if there is space for bikes on the boat. Pay attention to the timetables) or by bus 51 towards Albertville.
In this case, you should take the bus from Annecy train station, where the driver will help you hang your bikes behind the bus (remember to lock them). The bus stop is Le Pôlé, Bout du Lac, 200 meters from the campsite.

For the cycling professionals

For the more athletic, there are longer and more challenging trails. Around the campsite, there are several passes to conquer. Here are the most famous:

• Col de la Forclaz:
Start from the campsite towards Faverges. In Vesonne, begin the climb to the pass. From this side, the slope is quite steep.
You can also start around the lake towards Talloires. First, a few flat kilometers to warm up, then a 10 km climb that's spectacular for the eyes before descending back towards the small mountain villages for a very fast 9 km.

• Semnoz via the Col de Leschaux and the Crêt du Chatillon:
Semnoz, located at 1,670 m, is the mountain overlooking Annecy and its lake.
This loop is approximately 70 km long. You head towards Annecy. At Saint Jorioz, you turn towards the Col de Leschaux. The view from the summit is worth it. The return journey is via Annecy and then the cycle path to the campsite: https://www.routeyou.com/fr-fr/route/view/7659712

• Col de Tamié

Head towards Alberville and pass through the village of Faverges towards the Col de Tamié. You will pass the Abbey and Fort de Tamié. Once you reach the descent towards Mercury and Gilly-sur-Isère, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the valley. Return to Doussard via the cycle path.

• Col du Marais
Head towards Albertville, then at Faverges turn towards Saint Ferréol. Cross Saint Ferréol and begin the climb via the Route des Esserieux. At the pass, the hilly landscape is a feast for the eyes. Via Serraval and Thônes, you continue towards Annecy and then return to the campsite along the lake.

Other passes to explore are the Col de la Croix Fry, Col de Chérel, Col de l'Epine, Col des Aravis, and Col de l'Arpettaz.
